Driver Education Instructor Training
The Nine-Semester Hour Driver Education program provided by National Driver Training qualifies a person who completes the program to be recommended to receive one of the following endorsements:
Tract A: Teaching Assistant (TA)
To apply for a TA instructor license an individual must complete and master Driver Education I and II (six semester hours - one semester hour is equivalent to 15 clock hours). A person who receives a license as a TA qualifies to teach in-car instruction.
Tract B: Teaching Assistant-Full (TA-F):
To apply for a TA-full instructor license an individual must complete and master Driver Education I, II, and III (nine semester hours -one semester hour is equivalent to 15 clock hours).
Tract C: Driver Education Teacher (DET):
To apply for a DET instructor license an individual must complete and master Driver Education I, II, and III (nine semester hours – one semester hour is equivalent to 15 clock hours), and hold a current Texas Teaching Certificate.
This program is the ONLY online program in the State of Texas that can certify driving instructors.
